Ned J. Lindsley, 53, passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2016 at the Hospice center of Butler and Warren counties surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was born in Lancaster, PA to Jack and Caroline Lindsley and was the loving husband of Cheryl (Wheeler) Lindsley.
A graduate of Pequea Valley High School, Ned served in the US Navy and earned his Bachelor’s (Civil Engineering), and Master’s (Engineering Mechanics) degrees from the Pennsylvania State University. Ned also went on to attain his Doctorates degree (Doctor of Philosophy) from the University of Akron in Ohio.
Ned worked with passion at the Wright-Patterson Air Force base for 22 years, as a civil engineer and worked on many aircraft designs. He was a leader amongst his peers and very well respected within the industry. He served for a number of years as a research and development engineer in the Air Force Research Laboratory. Ned made key contributions on multiple flight research programs investigating aircraft aeroelasticity. He excelled at mentoring junior engineers in structural and aerodynamic modeling. He was a great teammate and friend, we all loved working with "big daddy".
His passions started with his family, and love for the Philadelphia Pro sports teams, specifically the Phillies. Ned was an active golf enthusiast, and enjoyed many trips to the Adirondack Mountains, and Myrtle Beach with his family and friends.
Surviving Ned in addition to his wife Cheryl, are his three children, Emily Nicole, Jacklynn Mae, and Carter J. and his siblings, sister Wendy (wife of Eric Herr, Gap ,PA), sister Connie (wife of David Bowman, Paradise, PA), and brother Stephen (husband of Deborah (Greer) Lindsley, Strasburg, PA) and his parents Jack and Caroline Lindsley (Lancaster, PA). Ned is also survived by Grandmother Barbara (Fenninger) Miller, and many aunt's, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and most of all his dearest friend Brad Karch.
A memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania for family and friends.

A remembrance will be held in the fall at his "favorite place in Ohio" the National Museum of the US Air Force.
