

Ray Townsend of Middletown, Ohio, passed away January 4, 2015 at Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville, Ohio. Mr. Townsend was born in Slade, Kentucky, on July 16, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of Middletown, Ohio. He worked for Hoover Ball Corporation and Blue Ball Presbyterian Church in his early years and for Middletown City Schools for 25 years as part of the custodial staff until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Gaynol Patton Townsend, in April, 2014; daughters, Debi Parks and Susan Piersall; parents, Cleavy & Jessee Townsend of Kentucky; eight siblings, including three siblings who died at birth, three brothers, Walter, Oscar and J.D. Townsend of Kentucky, and two sisters, Anna Lee Tipton and Geneva Scott of Kentucky; and, Mother and Father-in-law, Marie Dome Patton and Vestal Patton of Middletown. He is survived by two sons, Steve Donna Townsend of Franklin, Ohio and Brian Shari Townsend of Waynesville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Croshie Wardlow of Middletown, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and close friends. Ray loved to spend time in the Great Smoky Mountains with his wife, Gaynol. He was also a lifetime member of Blue Ball Presbyterian Church. ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 1-2 PM at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home and the funeral at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Lawler officiating. Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio.
