
Richard D. Lovelace, age 86, of Middletown, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Avalon by Otterbein at Atrium. He was born May 8, 1925 in Middletown, the son of S. Samuel Lovelace and Mae Dyer Lovelace. Mr. Lovelace was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and also was a recipient of multiple Purple Hearts. He worked at Square D where he retired as a supervisor. After retirement, he worked as a Quality consultant for Square D. He was past Master of Jefferson Lodge #90 F.&A.M. and was a 50-year member, a past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star Prosser Chapter, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, he was a member of the Hope United Methodist church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher, a 60-year member of the American Legion Post #218, and member of the DAV #1131. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and Tim Brandon of Middletown; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Debra Lovelace, Jr. of Middletown; two granddaughters, Lindsay Thorn of Liberty Township, Ohio, Ellana Knight of Louisiana; and two brothers, Reverend Ed Suzi Lovelace of Decatur, Indiana, Robert Carole Ann Lovelace of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Gladys Lovelace; one son, Ted Lovelace; and one grandson-in-law, William Thorn. Funeral services will be 11:30 AM, Thursday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Lovelace officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service conducted at 10:30 AM, Thursday. Burial will be at the Butler County Memorial Park.
