

Ronald Harold Cox, age 74 of Satellite Beach, Florida, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born March 27th, 1937, the son of Estell Ray Cox and Lillian Deniston Cox. On September 9, 2011, Ron and Velma celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and he always referred to her as "the best little woman in the world." Ron was born in Cincinnati, but was raised in Menifee County, Kentucky. After graduation from Frenchburg High School, he moved to Middletown and started his lifelong career at Armco Steel. He worked as a welder and tinsmith, and then completed a bachelor's degree and became a Mill Representative, retiring in 1992 after 37 years. Ron was a member of the Ohio Army National Guard from 1959 – 1963, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, 33rd-degree, Middletown VFW, and Moose Lodge. He was passionate about his family, his garden, his cars and boats, and his balcony in Florida overlooking the ocean. He was a caring husband, supportive and loving father, proud grandfather, and the kind of man who made life-long friends wherever he went.
Survivors include his loving wife Velma C. Cox, of Satellite Beach, Florida; a son, Ronald Marc Cox Michelle, of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren who were the light of his life, Gretchen, Bradley and Ginger Cox, also of St. Louis; two sisters, Juanita Good Robert, of Palm City, Florida, and Treva Rice Gene, of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM Thursday, immediately followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at the Mound Cemetery in Monroe with military honors by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
