Where do I start describing ol Papa Byrd? I guess from the beginning. Back in Jr. High I became acquainted with a gangly kid named Billy Byrd. We had a mutual interest in drums and percussion and from there it became so much more. I was enamored with his personality and sense of humor. As time progressed I came to know his parents The Mayor Sharon and his scary dad Sherley Dean. I spent a lot of my high school days at Byrd Manor swimming, shooting pool and playing video games...and of course music! That place was always so inviting even when I had a tendency to be loud which was a lot they still didn't banish me even whe I woke Dean up after working a double. Over the years he seemed to take me in stride and we developed a good and humorous relationship. Dean was always outspoken with his opinion on things and whether you agreed or not you respected them. He like Billy had a quirky sense of humor and was always good for a gut buster laugh. He lived life on his own terms and I don't think anyone could ask for more than that. Rest peacefully Sir and it warms my soul that your are reunited with the sweet Mayor we all loved also. You will be remembered.

Dean and I worked together for many years and he always seemed to have a smile on his face or a laugh to share. Great fellow and will truly be missed.
