Shirley Collins

Shirley Janet Collins, went to be with our Lord and Savior at 11:25 a.m. on July 16, 2013, at her daughter's home after a battle with kidney disease. Shirley was born on January 21, 1935, in Norton, VA to Scott and Martha Porter. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bud and Ray Porter; and a sister, Mary Jean. Married in 1955 in Wise, Virginia; Shirley Porter married Hilbert Collins, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 13, 2001. Surviving are their children, Pam Collins and Mike Hurley (Xenia); Debbie and Paul Click (Middletown); Randy and Sheila Collins (Franklin) and Beth and Bob Waywood (Trenton); sister, Jenny and Carlos Hash of Virginia; sister, Clara Gilliam of Virginia; and brother, Carroll and Patti Porter of North Carolina and brother-in-law, Freddie Mullins of Virginia. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Shirley lived in Franklin, OH, from 1961 to 2011. Shirley thought her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lit up a room with her smile and laughter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin until her health inhibited her ability to attend. Shirley was loved dearly by her family and will be greatly missed. Family and friends may visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
