

Thelma E. McDaniel, age 90, of Middletown, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Atrium Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1921 in Pomeroy, Ohio, the daughter of Ross Ash and Dehlia Chasteen Ash. During World War II, Thelma welded land mines in Hamilton, Ohio for the war effort. She was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers, and covered bridge memorabilia. Thelma was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Hamilton. She is survived by one daughter, Darla Tom Spence of Springboro; two sons, Jim McDaniel of Middletown, David Jill McDaniel of Dayton, Ohio; three granddaughters, Julie Jeff Gallagher, Jenny Spence, Beth Mike Plowman; two great grandsons, Padraig Gallagher and Eoin Gallagher; one sister, Georgia Harry Hatton of Hamilton; and loving caregivers, Amanda Flowers, Annette Hensley, Amber Bloomfield, Vicki Hensley, and Shelby Quinn. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. McDaniel Sr. in 2002. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Reverend Deb Holder officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at the Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
