Thomas Darrell Bray, Sr., age 82, passed peacefully in his sleep early Christmas morning at Atrium Medical Center. He was born November 22, 1937 in Franklin, Ohio to Clint and Gertrude Bray. Tom’s mother passed when he was only 3 years of age. He and his baby sister, Nancy, were then raised by their loving grandparents, Richard and Louella Byrnes. On September 15th, 1960, Tom married the love of his life, Bonnie Lou (Kinzer) Bray. They were married for 55 years. From this union, they were blessed and survived by two sons, Melvin Todd (Joan) Bray, Thomas Darrell (Cindy) Bray, Jr. and six cherished grandsons; Matthew, Daniel, Tyler, Kyle, Chase, and Logan Bray. Tom is also survived by sister-in-law, Maggie Kinzer, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
Tom is proceeded in death by his precious wife, Bonnie, his parents, grandparents, brother, Clint Bray, Jr., an adolescent sister, sister, Nancy Roberts, brothers-in-law, Spencer Roberts, Sam Kinzer; niece, Tammy Roberts, aunts and uncles.
Tom was a Master Butcher and was employed at A&P for many years, he then was employed at Harrison Radiator and retired after working there 33 years. Tom took a year or so to “relax” and then felt he needed something “to do” so he came out of retirement and returned to work as a Butcher for Kroger for several years. Tom took pride in his projects and taught himself how to build decks, picnic tables, swing sets, landscaping ideas (that Bonnie so sweetly talked him into building), and sheds. However, Tom’s great passion was his lawn and his landscaping. He worked tirelessly, keeping it groomed to perfection. Another great passion that both Tom and Bonnie shared was Ballroom Dancing. They were always taking classes and honing their skills. To watch them dance was “magical”.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Frazer for his excellent care and compassion. Dr. Frazer was Tom’s physician for approximately 36 years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Frazer’s staff for their care and compassion as well.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of choice in Tom’s remembrance. Arrangements are entrusted to Anderson Funeral Home.
