Tom was born in Springboro on September 22, 1930, and was the second of five children born to the late Alberta and Frank Hart. He was raised in Springboro and was a Korean War Veteran, serving from 1951-1953. After the service, Tom met Mary Lou Rowe, a kindergarten teacher in Springboro. They married in 1955 and settled in Miamisburg. They were married for over 65 years until her passing in 2021. Raised during the depression, Tom forged his way through life with strong work ethics claiming he went to the ‘School of Hard Knocks’.
He was a great tin craftsman and enjoyed displaying his tin crafts in shows throughout the Tristate. His ‘schooling’ worked for him as he was successful and very much admired for his tin craft. Tom was employed by DP&L for over 35 years and enjoyed staying in touch with all of his fellow coworkers. During his final months, he loved retelling his life stories. His favorites included being selected by the White House to supply tin ornaments for one of their Christmas trees. His humor and story telling kept many interested as he recalled numerous stories about Springboro and his life growing up.
In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by his siblings, Nancy Baker, Marguerite Hale, William Hart, Franklin Hart, Sisters-in-law: Nancy Rowe, Martha Merrill, Donna Hart, brothers-in-law: Bill Rowe, James Johnson, and Joseph Hale.
