Thomas Wayne Russell, age 76, of North Fort Myers, Florida (formerly of West Carrollton, Ohio) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 7th, 2021. He was born on September 5th, 1944 to the late Wayne and Annalee (Bruner) Russell.
Tom graduated from Springboro High School in 1962. While at Springboro High, he played baseball and basketball. After high school, he served in the Navy for 4 years. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Tom entered and completed an apprenticeship program to become an electrician. He indentured into JATC in 1968, and topped out becoming a journeyman in 1972. He was elected to the E-Board in 1982 and was appointed treasurer the following year in 1983. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 82 for over 50 years, becoming a member in the summer of 1969. He was active in Local 82 in a variety of ways, organizing annual Christmas parties for children, trips to the Reds and Dragons baseball games, and the annual summer picnics. In 1997, Tom retired from the field when he was elected financial secretary and re-elected every four years until 2006.
Tom was also a member of several Corvette Clubs including clubs in Troy, Fort Wayne as well as a club in Florida. He was an organizer of High-Speed Events at Putnam Park. Tom was a faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross. He also was actively involved with the Masons for more than 30 years.
Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially at their sporting events. He was a proud soccer grandpa who never missed a game when he was in town.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele (Dave) Wilkerson; step-son, Todd (Tracey) Seibert; grandchildren, Jeff Wilkerson, Scott Wilkerson, Michael Seibert, Katherine Seibert; sisters, Paula Wolf and Patricia (Lewis) Assaley; nephews, Rob Rookstool, Andrew (Sarah) Assaley; niece, Anna Assaley; and many other friends and family.
Besides his parents, Tom is proceeded in death by his loving wife, Alice Katherine Russell.
Memorial contributions in Tom's name may be made to Hospice of Dayton, the American Cancer Society, or the Red Cross.
Funeral services will be held privately by family. A public graveside service will be held Saturday, March 13th, 2021, at Miami Cemetery, 6379 Corwin Ave, Waynesville, OH 45068, at 12p.m.
