Timothy Clarence Bates, age 76, of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Tim was born June 25, 1946 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of the late Reverend Eddie (1985) and Myrtle (Fultz) Bates (1992). He is also preceded in death by his niece, Leah Nickell (1997) and his step-son, Ronald Hensley (2004) .
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ann (Austin) Bates; his son, Scott Bates; his daughter, Leanne and husband, Rawle Mahadeo; 5 siblings, Sandy Bates (Ronnie) Madden, Terry (Glenna) Bates, Sherry (Roy) McConnehea, Toney Bates, Sheila (Roger) Miller; 3 grandchildren, Owen, Angela and Victoria; 3 great-grandchildren and many amazing nieces and nephews.
Tim was a member of Baptist Tabernacle Church ,where he was actively involved with the prison ministry, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1965. He was the Assistant Pastor at Missionary Baptist Temple from 1980-82 in Franklin, Ohio and was active with the radio program.
Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved people and never met a stranger. He had a heart for ministry, was an avid golfer and loved to make people laugh. He loved his family and church family.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Baptist Tabernacle Church, 7816 Dubois Road in Carlisle, Ohio with Pastor Dick Burdine officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in memory of Tim be made to the Baptist Tabernacle Church.
