In loving memory of Todd Scarberry Jr., born on November 29, 1995, and tragically departed on December 29, 2023, at the age of 28. TJ, a devoted father, son, Uncle and brother, brought joy and laughter to everyone he touched. TJ grew up in Germantown, OH and was a resident of Woodstock, OH.
A true family man, TJ was married to his wife Sage and they together were raising their son Noah, along with his sons from a previous marriage, Theodore and Isaac. Together, they embraced the joys of a blended family, and TJ’s dedication to his loved ones extended beyond blood, as he cherished every moment spent with loved ones.
An adventurer at heart, TJ's zest for life found expression in his love for off-roading in his jeep, his love for exploration and his love for travel where the thrill of adventure was matched only by the camaraderie shared with friends. He had a knack for finding hidden gems, unlocking the beauty of new places, and embracing the thrill of the unknown. As an avid griller and master of the smoker, he delighted in crafting delicious meals that brought people together, creating lasting memories with each shared bite.
His commitment to fitness reflected his disciplined nature, but it was his infectious laughter and warm spirit that truly defined him. TJ's ability to find humor in any situation and uplift those around him made him not only a brother but a best friend to many.
In his military service, TJ exemplified courage and honor as an E-6 Staff Sergeant in the Ohio Army National Guard. His dedication to duty mirrored his commitment to those he loved, embodying the principles of loyalty and selflessness.
SGT Todd Scarberry diligently served the Ohio National Guard for over eight exceptional years of service. He began his military career in 2015 as a 42A Human Resources Specialist in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1-148th Infantry Regiment in Walbridge, Ohio. He then transitioned to HHB 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, before selection for Active Guard Reserve duty at Joint Force Headquarters G1 Personnel Directorate in 2019. He became known throughout the state first for his contributions to managing enlisted promotions in the personnel branch and then in the G1 mobilization office as he assisted thousands of Soldiers in preparing for deployments around the world and supporting National Guard missions such as the COVID-19 response here in Ohio.
SGT Scarberry culminated his career as the Human Resources Sergeant for the 837th Brigade Engineer Battalion, in Springfield, Ohio where he served from 1 September 2022 thru 29 December 2023. SGT Scarberry was incredibly passionate about caring for Soldiers and prided himself on his ability to help others. He postured himself as an approachable and knowledgeable Human Resources professional that would always place the needs of others above his own. He was a friend and mentor to all those around him and the organization was better because he was a part of it.
In addition to his military service, TJ was an active member of the Harmony Lodge in Urbana, where he embraced the principles of Freemasonry. He was also a dedicated member of the Lions Club, contributing to community service and fostering a spirit of giving.
His involvement in the Woodstock Community Church, where he served as the president on the board of preservation, reflected his deep connection to his faith and community. Located just across the street from his home, the church held a special place in his heart.
TJ's sudden departure leaves a permanent void in the lives of those who knew him. As we mourn his loss, let us remember the joy he brought, the love he shared, and the impact he made on our hearts.
TJ is survived by his wife Sage and his three sons, Theodore, Isaac, and Noah. He is also survived by his sisters Alicia Alvey, Alexia Lovett, Danielle Germann, and Trisha Jaeggi, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. His father Todd Scarberry Sr. and stepmom Christina Scarberry also mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides and his mother, Katherine Scarberry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his memory.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and deeply missed.
