Vernon Smith Jr.

Vernon Smith Jr., age 82 passed away peacefully at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, Franklin, OH on Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was born in Portsmouth, OH on April 20, 1934 to Judge Vernon and Anna May Duncan Smith Sr. Vernon graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1952 and from Moorehead State University. He was employed by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, as a deputy, retiring in 1994. He co-founded the Fraternal Order of Policy Lodge No. 187. Vernon loved to roller skate and spent much time with his friends from high school days at the rink. He was preceded in death by his father Judge Vernon Smith Sr. and mother Anna May Smith. He is survived by cousins Janet Thompson of Franklin, OH, Dr. Paul (Bill) Duncan of Portsmouth, OH and John Danner of Cincinnati, OH.
