

Walter Robert Miller, age 86 of Middletown, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of George Miller and Anna Ranke Miller. Walt was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and receiving the Purple Heart. He served in the Phillipines during the war and later was stationed in Japan. He was an educator for the Monroe and Middletown City Schools, retiring as an assistant principal with Middletown High School. Walt was a founding member of Messiah Lutheran Church, in Middletown. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patsy Ruth Bunch Miller; three daughters, Mary Forbes of Butler, Ohio, Ruth Scudder Briggs of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kate Charlie Lindsey of Middletown; two sons, Walt Detta Miller of Loudonville, Ohio, John Nancy Miller of Lawrenceville, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Virginia, Justin, Jared, Brandon, William, Jacob, Robert, Molly, Danielle; four great grandchildren, Mason, Marli, Natalie, Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother. Funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4715 Holly Avenue, Middletown, OH on Monday, March 25, 2013. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM, followed immediately by the funeral service, officiated by Reverend Daniel Herb. Arrangements made by the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.
