Carmen Manuel Andres
On August 14, 1916, Carmen R. Manuel was born in San Agustin (formerly a part of Jones), Isabela, Philippines. She was the fourth of the eight children of the late Nicolas Manuel and Clara Raymundo Manuel, which are as follows: Agustin Manuel, Antonio Manuel, Dionisia Ramos, Carmen Andres, Moises Manuel, Macaria Matias, Pacifico Manuel and Enriqueta Molina.
She was married to the late Buenavida Andres and their union brought into the world three daughters: Florida the eldest is married to Pete Agngarayngay, a Church of God minister of the Gospel, Warlina, the second daughter is married to Marcelino Pascual Sr. whose union has brought two children: Lynmar Grace A. Pascual is a nurse in London, Arlie Pascual, married to Vicky Ortiz has one child, Zarina Lee Pascual, now lives in Toronta, Canada. Relecita is married to James Stephen Proctor, the son of a former missionary to the Philippines, the Rev. and Mrs. James A. Proctor. Stephen is one of the faculty members of Heald College in Milpitas, California. Stephen and Relecita have two daughters: Stephanie Ligaya, the firstborn, is married to Christopher McCarthy, who is in the navy. They presently live in Virginia Beach. Kristina Andrea Proctor the younger daughter is an operating room nurse at the Fountain Valley Medical Center. She is engaged to be married to Peter Sims next month on the tenth.
By God’s Providence Carmen came to the United States 1n 1982 as a baby-sitter to Stephanie Ligaya in Calhoun, Georgia. She stayed there for one and a half years then went back to the Philippines. She came back to the United States as an immigrant in 1989 through the sponsorship of James Stephen and Relecita. One of the best privileges and blessings that she received while living in the United States is that she gained her United States citizenship on August 20, 1997.
To the glory of God, our mother lived a very wonderful God-blessed full and fulfilled Christian life. She was a woman of great faith and prayer, who lived her Christian life consistently – through loving others, conquering the trials of life by total dependence in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. In the churches she attended and among all her relatives she was known and respected as a humble, loving and wise Christian woman. Having accomplished God’s purpose in her life, she went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2010, at approximately 6:06 A.M.
