Cecilia Caampued, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Roseville, CA, surrounded by her family on January 3, 2019. She was born on November 16, 1933 in Manila, when the Philippines was still an American colony. A licensed chemical engineer and chemist in the Philippines with a bachelors degree in chemistry from the University of the Philippines in 1960, a bachelors degree in chemical engineering from FEATI University in 1959 and a masters degree in public administration from Feati University in 1966. She was a mathematics professor in the University’s college of engineering from 1961 to 1966. She was employed at the Philippines Patent Office in Manila from 1962 to 1974, as a Patent Supervisor in the PPO Chemical Division.
On September 14, 1963, she married Hernando Caampued. Together, they had three daughters and one son. She came to California in 1974 with her four young children ages 4 to 9 to join her husband, Hernando and lived in San Jose for almost 40 years. (1974-2013) Cecilia worked many jobs in several electronics companies in Silicon Valley until her retirement in 1998. She was a former member of St. Victor Catholic Church Choir for over 16 years. (1995-2011). Cecilia was also active in the Knights of Columbus being a former co-chair of Pro-Life committee of Milpitas Council 5796 for over 10 years and a consistent fund raiser for the council. In 2013, she moved to Roseville, CA, settling into a comfortable life with her husband. Cecilia loved music, playing the piano, tutoring young children to play the piano, singing in the church choir and being with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Hernando, daughters Theresa (Joseph Prindle), Josephine, Cristina (Steve Darrow), son John (Katie Eppler) and grandsons, Jeremy, Christian, Jacob I and Jacob II, and granddaughter, Hannah.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, 10:30am Mass at St. Clare Church, 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville, CA. and a short viewing will be held before and after the mass. Reception will follow at Morris Center, St. Clare Church. Funeral services will continue at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, 48800 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539.
