Mom's Obituary is in today's San Jose Mercury News. I high lighted her love for McKenna Field and MHS Football Sports. You see, I come to realize last night, (another sleepless night) that we love sports so much here in Milpitas , every kid who I played against........ I got to know their family over time as they got to know my family. As I dwell on my Mom's time here on Earth. Even though Mom is gone now. I have my Sports Family to give me faith, Yes I have faith in my own family but its the game that we played as kids that allowed my mother to heal when my father Dannie passed away in 1974. 1st thing mom did after Dad's passing, Mom enrolled into Mission college. Mom became a Nurses Aid. Our Milpitas community allowed my mother to be apart of their families. The trip to Benicia in 1977 was Mom's biggest reward. Our Milpitas team Won the PAL California Championship. The sports that I participated in from 1973 to 1980 allowed my mother think positive. Thank you to all the kids who played @ McKenna Field & MSH Football Team. So as I reflect on my mothers life I see all the good Sports does to bring families together and hold them together. I have fond memories as those who participated in the game over the years. Since Mom's passing I have heard so many stories from friends who say they dreaded playing against the teams I was on in baseball. 1# was my curve ball which no one could hit, 2# was my Mom's loud voice , which sent quivers down their legs when you came up to bat against me.So many stories. Great stories. There are so many families I would like to thank, but that will come in time one on one. As i am free to now get involve in my community and see not what I have been missing but what I can do to give like my Mom and add to her legacy & hopefully give as much as she did. With that said, for those of you who were on my team over the years ........ YOU know you were grateful you were on my team because if you weren't ... then you faced the Mom in the stands hollering along with the parents. Life is good I have many memories and there all good. So again thank you for all who played with me and against me in Sports. You gave my mother a reason to wake up one more day, day after day, week after week. year after year. The next 2 days are going to be big, for I will have to remember each and every story that will be told of my Mom's influence to the other kids who loved my Mom. Ron Scott..... You hit it on the nail. Your story will inspire me to go forward and not side ways. I want to especial thank Bud King for supporting me and talking to me the years after my father Died. Bud made sure I was not alone after my games at McKenna field & Tony Thompson for taking me under his wing & giving me the opportunity to learn how to coordinate major Karate events. By being in meeting ,setting up San Jose Events for ISKA Karate back in 1985. Mom got to see my other talents of Mr. Thompson had and what Tony did to keep me level headed. So I highly recommend West Coast Martial Arts. Family is what's West Coast is about . We will celebrate mom passing and the strength she gave our community. Love you Mom until we meet again. Every sunrise and every sunset I will blow a kiss in the sky and tell you I love you with all my heart.
Long live sport. "Its in the game". the game of life!!!!!!
