Elena was born in Gallup New Mexico and passed away this passed Friday in her home in Oakland, California. She was the beloved daughter of Hilario & Tomasa Chavez (deceased). She was also preceded in death by her brother Gabino Chavez and sisters Lilly Verdin and Lucy Arriaga. Elena is survived by her brother Eloy Chavez and her children Peter Chavez Sr., Maria Elena Montecino (Francisco), Yolanda Cabrera, Tomi Finch (John), “Son” Peter Chavez Jr., “Daughters” Tina Marie Chavez and Monica McCathrion (Mike). She is also survived by her grand children Raquel, Cristina (Syd), Nando (deceased), Bert (Tila), Cecelia (Mitch), Pat (Amanda), Jeff (Teresita), and Joe (Traci). At the same time Elena is also survived by her 22 Great Grandchildren and will be missed by all.
