Eppie was born on October 21, 1931. She was the eldest daughter of the late Congressman of Laguna, the Honorable Attorney Manuel Azores Concordia and Epitacia Raniola Oblena. She has 3 siblings, the late Nanette Concordia-Gonzaga, the late Manuel Oblena Concordia Jr., and Fran Concordia dela Chica.
Graduated with degree in Education at the Philippine Women’s University and the University of Philippines. Married Humberto Pacheco Llamas and had five children, MariCris Concordia Llamas-Benitez, the late Vicente Manuel (Boy) Concordia Llamas III, the late Vicente Roman (Baby) Concordia Llamas IV, Vicente Honorio (Honie) Concordia Llamas V and Vicente Carlos (Charlie) Concordia Llamas VI. Eppie started teaching at the University of the Philippines. Decided to start a nursery school at their home at the same time. Then founded the Llamas School that became one of the prestigious schools in Quezon City, Metro Manila Philippines during that time. The school catered to Nursery up to High School Students where her two younger sons, Honie and Charlie and some of her grandchildren graduated from.
Eppie was born with beauty and brains. At an early age she was hailed as May Flower Queen, Reyna Elena in Santacruzans, Campus Sweetheart/Queen in schools she attended. Her charm and captivating smile even at a mature age was proclaimed and crowned Mrs. Quezon City, Metro Manila Philippines.
While teaching she pursued her Master’s Degree in Education at the University of the Philippines. She decided to go to the California USA after being accepted for a Doctorate Degree in Education at University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). Being so passionate to teach she decided to restart her teaching career in Los Angeles, California. Moved to San Jose, California where she taught for the San Jose Unified School District and Berryessa Unified School District for more than 30 years.
Eppie was an active civic leader being a member of the Filipino Professional and Business Society, Saint John the Baptist Ladies Guild, Milpitas Executive Lions Club, Seven Lakes Association of Northern California, and other non-profit & educational associations and organizations.
She was a devoted wife to Humberto, loving and nurturing mother to her 5 children. Taught them the fundamentals of life, faith in God, love for family, kindness and respect for others, to continuously gain knowledge, focus on their dreams and work hard to achieve one’s goals in life. Even with her busy schedule she found time to be with her 13 grandchildren “apos” who were growing up here in the United States and the Philippines. Throughout summer vacation and after retirement she made sure to bond with them. Very much involved in their extracurricular activities by attending school programs, volunteers in school & community service activities. Loves taking lots of pictures of all family occasions, social gatherings with friends and her organizations even at Saint John the Baptist School & Church were three of her grandchildren graduated from. Being a teacher, her desire is for them to grow up to be well rounded individuals. Enrolled them to learn skills in Performing Arts such as in dance schools, hula dance, jazz, ballet and piano, violin, guitar, and voice lessons. Loves going to concerts and theater to watch plays bringing them along with her. The dedication she bestowed to her grandchildren was extended to her 20 adorable great grandchildren although some of them were too young to have known her well.
Enjoys attending socials and dances were she and her partner, Engineer Richard Cassidy were awarded best dancing couple at the Dance Party TV Show in the Bay Area. Eppie, who was a widow at that time remarried Richard, a dedicated and caring husband, kind-hearted stepfather to her adult children and loving grandfather to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They called him “Lolo Dick.” Meaning Grandpa Dick. Most of them knew him as their grandfather.
To all those who got to know Eppie, she is lady with grace and elegance, was a source of inspiration, a model of perfection who had unyielding commitment to excellence that defined her as a competent and significant educator, responsible parent, and a caring grandmother.
