

Esperanza was born in Kabugao, Mountain Province, Philippines on October 21, 1922 to Luciano Balagot and Pantaleona Hortelano. She was the second of 12 children.
Esperanza attended and graduated from Baguio City High School, Phil. where she met Pergentino Calica. Together, they had five children. Elizabeth (Rolito) Roque, Ester (William) Grier, Zenaida (Efren) Dela Cruz, Ernesto (Charito) Calica and Maria Teresa (Teodulo) Maglunob.
Esperanza was a loving, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took pride and joy in cooking meals for her family and friends to enjoy. She was a voracious reader and loved to solved word find puzzles. She had a special fondness for Queso de Bola, which her children and grandchildren fondly gifted in hilarious ways.
Esperanza was preceded in death by her sisters Fe Atanacio and Helen Madamba and her brothers Dencio, Fred, Vic and Rey Balagot .
Her memories will continue to be cherished by her surviving siblings, Lourdes Flores, Aurora Laigo, Estella Schemenauer, Eddie and L Bobby Balagot Jr.
Her legacy will live on in her surviving children, her grandchildren, Ardie (Carol) and Ena (Michaela) Roque, Ed (Candice) Dela Cruz, Chermaine (Leo) Millares, Riel (Roselle) Calica, Kristoffer (Esther) Maglunob, Kristine M (Rex) Sapasap, Kristle M (Aaron) Guzman, Aika, Kristine, Ericka and Tonie Calica and Kate Maglunob; Her great grandchildren, Czarina (Roger) Diaz, Robert, Ronald and Charlene Roque, Crystalyn, Brandon, Angelina and Alexia Dela Cruz and Charlie Millares and Andrew and Mateo Calica
She will be welcomed to eternal life by her husband, Pergentino Calica, best friend Dolores Dela Cruz, granddaughter, Ernestine Calica and son-in-law, William Grier.
