Filipina Bascos Nievera was born in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines, on May 31, 1945, to Hilario and Luz Bascos. She spent her formative years in Villasis, attending Villasis Central School and Pacifican Colleges, before pursuing her passion for healthcare. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Far Eastern University in Manila in 1966.
In 1967, Filipina migrated to the United States to begin her career as a Registered Nurse in Chicago, Illinois. It was there, in Chicago, that she met the love of her life, Conrado. They were married and shared 52 beautiful years of devotion and partnership. Together, they made the move to the Bay Area, initially settling in Daly City, where Filipina dedicated her skills to Peninsula Hospital.
As they built their life and family, they purchased a home in the South Bay, residing in Santa Clara before ultimately settling in Milpitas. In 1977, Filipina joined the nursing team at El Camino Hospital, where she provided compassionate care for three decades until her well-deserved retirement in 2007.
In their golden years, Filipina and Conrado traveled the world together while dividing their time between their cherished homes in Milpitas and her hometown of Villasis, Pangasinan.
Filipina is survived by her devoted husband, Conrado; her son, Conrad, and daughter-in-law, Rineheart; and her beloved granddaughter, Laurene Luz. She is also survived by her brother Raymundo, his wife Erlinda, and family; and the family of her late brother Jesus, and his wife Erlinda and family. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of dedication and profound love for her family.
The family politely requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association to support the fight against this disease and to aid in the discovery of a cure.
The Nievera family thanks you all for your love, support, and presence today.
