To Gene's extended family:  So sorry we were away from home when Loretta called with the news.  We were saddened by the message.  Although we hadn't seen much of each other in the past years; I always looked up to my Cousin, admired and respected him.  A real Gentleman.  He attended my high school graduation, and was the Best Man at my wedding 40 years ago.  I fondly remember my summers at his folks farm and occaisionally got to occupy "his" room, while he was away.

You may not remember me. I knew Loretta and Gene while going to college in Laramie, WY. I have often wondered where they lived but remembered Gene was from Morrill. My sympathy is with your family. God be with you in the coming days.

To Gene's family: I remember Gene and Charlotte and Uncle Surb and Aunt Evelyn, as I grew up with them in my Uncle Bob and Aunt Zed's family. That was many years ago. I am Marion Harris Weickum, daughter of Zed's brother, Lafe Harris and his wife Mary Hardesty Harris. I live in Idaho. 'our' cousin, Betty Mae Johnson Sutton lives in Wickenburg, Az. It was always such fun to watch Gene and Gary reminiss about all the fun things they did together growing up in the small town of Morrill, Nebraska.Fishing, hunting, digging tunnels and camping in the empty lot---I think they are having a great reunion now in Heaven, along with several other classmates. We will remember the happy times.
