Former Mountain View, CA resident Gertrudes L. Nicolas, 65, died November 26, 2011, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Clara, CA., after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ms. Nicolas was born March 18, 1946 in Poblacion, Balungao, Pangasinan, to Lorenzo & Eulalia L. Nicolas.
Gertrudes was a graduate of Manuel Luis Quezon University where she earned her BS in Elementary Education in 1970. She taught at Balungao Central High School upon graduation and immigrated to the US in 1976 where she eventually settled in Mountain View, CA. She worked for several companies but her longest tenure as Lead Quality Assurance for 25 years was with NTI/Sanmina.
Her interest and concern revolved around her immediate family. Although she never married, she considered all her siblings children as her own. She devoted most of her time and energy to family members, giving care to her mother Eulalia until her passing at the age of 97.
She is survived by her sisters Jovita Nicolas, Flordeliza Vivas, brothers Atty. Antonio L. Nicolas and Francisco Nicolas, sister-in-laws Dr. Lily Nicolas (Antonio) and Editha Nicolas (Francisco).
Memorial and viewing will be on Sunday December 4, 2011 at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary in Fremont, CA.
