Grant was born to Ross and Evie Smith of Catawba County, Newton, NC. A resident of Milpitas since 1959, died at his home after years of battling Alzheimer's disease. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In the 1970's, he was instrumental with the Milpitas frontier's days. Grant served as a Marine in the Korean War. He worked at the Western Pacific Railroad for 12 years and retired from Ford Motors after 16 years and Santa Clara County.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Smith of 57 years and his 4 children: Ross Smith, Suzi Vasquez, James Smith and Gene Smith, grandchildren: Tim, Anthony, Joe, Clint, Stephanie, Kyle and Erica and great grandchildren: Breanna and Savannah.
