Hilaria G. Miranda passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023 in Fremont, California, surrounded by her loving family. Hilaria was born on January 14, 1923 to Joaquin and Tomasa Guerrero in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. She married Emilio, a U.S. navy chef, in 1950. They had four children who were raised in their Real home. Hilaria took care of the four children while her husband was overseas on and off for 14 years. She helped to support her family by raising chickens and pigs. When they moved to San Leandro, California, Emilio and Hilaria started a new chapter of their life in a new country. Hilaria spent her days babysitting the grandchildren, cooking delicious food, visiting with friends and family and tending to her garden. Hilaria loved fresh flowers. She grew roses, lemons, and succulents. Her kitchen window always had plants in tiny pots. She was famous for her lumpia, dinuguan and pancit. Hilaria loved to watch her favorite TV shows (Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal) and keep up with Filipino celebrity gossip. She was the last of her siblings to be called home by Our Lord. Her time here was not always easy, but in 100 years and seven months, it was full of happy memories with loved ones. Hilaria is survived by her children: Emilio Miranda, Jr. (Lourdes Miranda), Gabriel Miranda (Maria Villa Miranda), Flordeliza Miranda (Lothar Tietze) and Rosario Mangubat (Ruben Mangubat, Jr.); her grandchildren: Khristine Serbin (John Serbin), Frances Miranda (Mark Wong), Emilio R. Miranda, Maria Patricia Miranda (Andrew Braziel), Melissa Miranda, Margarita Miranda (Lakshman Sankar), Gabriel Miranda, Jr., (Annabel Kleess), Ruben Mangubat, III, Anjelica Mangubat, Corina Tietze, and Teresa Rall (David Rall); and her great-grandchildren: Jude, Mia, Matthew, Nikko, Jonas, Evie, Bella, James, Sebastian, Ana, Sophia and Grayson. You will be greatly missed, Lola.
