Jean-Marie Santos was born on August 9th, 1960 in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. She immigrated to Hawaii in 1981 with her mother, younger brother and younger sister, leaving behind her remaining siblings and only life she knew. She petitioned for her remaining siblings to come to the United States and dedicated over 30 years to fulfill the promise she made to her mother of reuniting their family.
Shortly after coming to America, she met the love of her life and best friend, Roberto, and joined in holy matrimony on February 19, 1983. They found their forever home in San Jose, California and went on to have three children.
Jean worked numerous jobs before ultimately dedicating over 25 years as a pharmacy technician for the county and retired in 2019 to spend time with her family. She was known for going the extra mile with all of her patients. Many described her as kind-hearted, warm, and compassionate.
She was often recognized for her generosity. Every year, her and her family would donate dozens of turkeys to homeless shelters during the holidays. She also started No Man Hungry, a program based in the Philippines that is focused on feeding the less fortunate.
In her free time, Jean loved to garden. She was especially proud of her dragon fruit, calamansi, and vegetables and was known for sharing her harvests with everyone she loved. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and kids and spent many summers in Hawaii.
Jean is survived by her husband, Roberto, and her children, Alvin-Jim, Mary-Jane, and Robert-John. She also leaves behind her 6 siblings and numerous other loved ones.
