Jojo was born on February 19th, 1966 in Manila, Philippines to Eddie & Connie Garlit. He, along with his two sisters, Mary Anne & Jenniffer, grew up in Manila. He attended St. Anthony Catholic school in the Philippines and played on their basketball team and sung in their choir. In 1985, he and the family immigrated to the United States.
Jojo graduated from De Anza college and spent the majority of his career working for medical companies. His last position was at Revolution Medicine as a Manager of GXP Documentation and Training. His coworkers always spoke highly of him and said that he was a great asset to their team.
On his spare time, Jojo loved bowling. He, along with his family, would participate in bowling leagues throughout their adult lives. He was pretty amazing at it too and would compete in bowling tournaments. He would score a perfect 300 game from time to time. He taught his nieces and nephews how to play and took them to the bowling alley on the weekends.
Jojo was known for being the life of the party. His smile would light up a room & his voice would travel throughout the house. There was never any question when he was around. Jojo had such a deep love for music. Some of his favorite music artists were The Beatles, Queen, Journey, Michael Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, Martin Nievera, and Gary Valenciano. He shared his love of music with everyone around him.
One of Jojo’s other favorite hobbies was his weekly poker games with family. He always did his best to attend these poker games- even while undergoing treatment for his cancer. It kept him going and made him extremely happy to be with his family. His favorite place to travel to was Las Vegas- he would rack up those casino points to treat his family to free hotel rooms. He loved gambling in those casinos, eating at the buffets, & seeing various variety shows along the strip.
Jojo’s second favorite place to travel to was Hawaii. He was fortunate enough to visit a few times. Even in the midst of treatment, Jojo found the strength to visit Hawaii one last time in June 2025. He truly loved his “Ohana” there.
The one thing in this world that Jojo loved more than anything was family. He always put family first and did anything he could to help them out. His favorite people in the entire world was his family; no one was more important than them. And of course, in his final years, he grew even closer to his mother, Connie. He was her first child and that bond was so special to him. He also absolutely adored his grand-nephews, Mïcah and Elijah. One of his last texts about them said, “These 2 boys are our lives. I’ll do anything and everything for them.”
He treated his 5 nieces & nephews (Jerwin, Raymund, Jared, Samantha, & Jisselle) like they were his own children and spoiled them as much as he could. He would take them to Dave & Busters, baseball games, concerts, & most importantly - Las Vegas. He supported each and every one of them as much as he could and would always be there whenever they needed an extra pair of ears.
Jojo loved politics. If you brought anything political up, he would not be afraid to get into a long discussion about his views and beliefs with you.
Jojo will be truly missed. His love of the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, and the San Francisco 49ers will live on through his family. When you’re at Starbucks, order a Java Chip Frappuccino with extra ice- it was his favorite drink. Jojo’s favorite color was blue, so whenever you look up into the sky, think of him.
Jojo is survived by his mother (Connie), siblings (Mary Anne, Jenniffer, Jerome, Justin), nieces & nephews (Jerwin, Raymund, Jared, Samantha, & Jisselle), and grand-nephews (Mïcah & Elijah).
He is preceded in death by his father (Eddie).
