John “Jack” was born in Oak Park, Illinois on January 31, 1945 to John and Dolores “Patricia” Hemstreet. John passed away peacefully surrounded by family. John married Lesta on Christmas Eve in 1966, they then had two children, Brian (Luz) and Melissa (Danny). John was predeceased by his wife Lesta, parents John and Patricia Hemstreet. And his brother Thomas.
John was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, Marine, friend, Catholic and last but not least a grandfather (Payton, Savannah, Chloe and Lillian) and great-grandfather. John served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965-1968. “Once a Marine always a Marine,” as he would say. John loved his children and grandchildren dearly, he was always there for them, there biggest supporter and he would do anything for them including great council. He enjoyed helping people less fortunate then him. John was a great example to all and he will be dearly missed by many and has left a big imprint in all our lives.
John is survived by: his brothers Robert, Terrence, Richard, and sisters Janet (Bill), Patricia (Brad), Marybeth (Steve), Laurel (Fred) and sister in law Gina.
