Jose Vega was born in Cisco, Texas, on March 30, 1928, and later made his home in California, moving to Oakland with his mother in 1941. He built a life grounded in hard work and providing for his family.
Jose worked for many years as a truck driver. He approached his work with consistency and pride.
Family was central to his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresa, and his daughter, Rita. He is survived by his children, Adele Jaimes (Gilbert ϯ) and Josie Hernandez (Manuel); his sister Virginia (Jesus ϯ), and his brother Victor (Marie); six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He loved Mexican music and dancing and cherished time spent with family, especially when it involved going out to eat and simply being together. These moments will remain treasured memories.
