

Joseph Estrada Jumanan, affectionately known as "Kuya Boy," passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in San Jose, California. He was 79 years old. At the time of his passing, Joseph was surrounded by his loving family, who gathered to share the stories and prayers that defined his life before he quietly went home to be with the Lord.
Born on August 20, 1946, in the Philippines, Boy was the cherished son of Zozimo and Julieta Jumanan. He immigrated to the United States in 1979 and made San Jose his home the following year. In 1983, he married Editha Laureta, with whom he shared a life of devotion and love.
He is survived by his son Jojo (Jessica) Jumanan and Grandson Atlas; his daughter Josephine (Ryan) Mendoza, and his Grandchildren Liana and RJ. He is also survived by his sisters Teresa (Cipriano) Lomotan and Alice (Stephen) Llaneza, and his brothers Oscar (Grace) Jumanan and Jaime (Susie) Jumanan. He was preceded in death by his sister Zenia (Genaro) Aguada and his beloved wife Editha.
Joe was known for his steadfast dedication to his church and his joyful sense of humor. He treasured time with his family and delighted in sharing meals with loved ones. Generous to the core, he often insisted on treating others, reminding them that “it’s only money—you can’t take it with you.”
Joseph will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. RIP Kuya Boy
