

Juanita was the second child born to LT and ArDelia Kennedy on January 13, 1927, in Waco, Texas. She completed her elementary education in the Waco School district. As a young girl Juanita (Baby Sis) loved to play basketball, she would tell you she was sho good.
Baby Sis met and married William Carothers (WC) in November 1942, WC and Baby Sis were the first family to move to California. Baby Sis was kind hearted and helped all that were to come. Baby Sis was married almost 15 yrs. before she had her first child William Jr. and to follow were Carole Ann, Delia Marie and Patrick Thomas.
Baby Sis was introduced to the Lord at an early age by her father LT. Her last church affiliation was with the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of San Jose, CA upon relocating to the valley she attended local churches in the area. She loved to hear her grandson preach and never missed an occasion when her health allowed her.
Baby Sis’ older Sister Vilena (Molly), went home to be with the Lord early in life leaving seven children. Ernest Jr., Tommie, Viola, LT, Colleen, Mattie and Elvira took on a special place in Baby Sis’ heart and her in theirs.
Juanita was a domestic for most of her working career. Working for several prominent families in the bay area, she cooked, cleaned but mostly raised their kids.
Baby Sis’ greatest joy was being a grandmother. She loved her grandkids and they loved her. As they got older they enjoy spending time with her some gave her gangster names and signs that she would respond to.
Juanita leaves to cherish her memories, one son William Jr., (Amanda), Nampa, ID, two daughters Carole Ann, Salida, CA, Delia Marie (Vincent), Nampa, ID. Eleven grandkids Meishaun, Marcus, Nampa, ID, Patrick Jr., Justin, Waco, TX, Edward, William III, Salida, CA, Katrena (Armando) Ashanti, Justice, Nampa, ID. Shantayvia, Shakayla, Waco, TX. Four great grandkids, Niajah, Amani, Miara, Tae’ana, Nampa ID, two brothers Charles Davis Waco, TX, LT Kennedy (Chris) San Jose, CA, four sisters Florine Alexander, Lula Amy, Onita Washington of Waco, TX, Pearlyn Harris, Las Vega, Nevada, three sisters in-law Christine Coleman, Edna McLennan, Antioch, CA Nora Fields, Waco, TX, one brother in-law Lonzo Caruthers of Sacramento, CA, daughter of her heart Aisha Bereal (Jason) Jenks,. OK, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death are her husband, William Carothers Sr. and son Patrick Carothers Sr. along with several brothers and sisters.
