Ken Costa, 80 of San Leandro passed away peacefully on November 14, 2014,surrounded with love by his family and friends. Born July 9, 1934 to Louis and Hazel Costa. He was raised in Oakland, graduated from Castlemont High in 1952. Enlisted into the USMC in 1954, returned home in 1956, and began working as a Long Shoreman. With 42 years of service he retired in 2000.During retirement he loved to travel, spend time with family, friends and his beloved dogs. Ken was a devoted son to his mother and father and caring for his mother during her elder years. He was a very generous person that donated to many organizations, helping, children, animals and the needy.Ken will be remembered as the gentle big guy with a heart of gold, great sense of humor and contagious smile.The fond memories we have of Ken, will keep him forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held at San Leandro Funeral Home, November 23, 2014 from 4-8PM with a Vigil at 7PM. Graveside Service to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11AM.
