More affectionately known as “Ludy,” she was born on February 25, 1935 in Manila, Philippines, the 7th among 9 siblings, to Jose and Felisa Zulaybar. With a natural talent for music and singing, Ludy attended Centro Escolar University under a full scholarship and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Doctors in Optometry. She married Amado del Rosario that same year. With her family in tow, Ludy immigrated to the United States in 1973 to seek success in the land of opportunity, and chose San Jose, California to raise their children. Through diligence and hard work, she and her husband ensured all 5 of their children received college degrees, and in 1995, when they should be considering retirement, instead established Rosegarden Court, a facility for elderly care.
She retired in 2001 in El Dorado Hills, California and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and traveling with her close friends.
She is survived by her husband Amado, her children Ramon, Manuel, Amihan, Paraluman and Marikit, and her grandchildren Windham, Noelani, Dylan, Nathan, Ethan, Aria, Julian and Armie. She is also survived by her sisters Pillar, Teresita and Dulce.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Lima Family Milpitas Fremont Mortuary. A memorial service will be held 6/12/15 Friday noon at St. Victor’s Catholic Church of San Jose where Ludy had played an active role in the choir, the church, and the Filipino community; burial follows at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Fremont.
