

Marcelina Soriano Espejo, known to her niece Lynda Hawkins as Auntie Celing, was born in Manaog, Pangasinan, Philippines, on December 20, 1931, to Barbara Soriano and Catalino Espejo. She passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 93.
Marcelina was preceded in death by her husband, Teofisto Pena; her parents, Barbara and Catalino Espejo; her brother, Edel Espejo; her sister, Emerenciana Espejo Amos; her son, David Amos; her brother, Raymondo Espejo; and her sister, Inocencia Espejo Sahagun.
She is survived by her sisters, Lydia Espejo Padua of Tracy, CA, Esmena Espejo Ting, and Amelia Espejo Valles, both in the Philippines.
She is also survived by her nephews and nieces:

● Children of Lydia Espejo Padua: Lylia Espejo Padua Taporco, Maximino Espejo Padua, Jr., Mike Espejo Padua, and Lynda Espejo Padua Hawkins
● Children of Esmenia Espejo Ting: Olivia Espejo Ting De Guzman, Marcelina Espejo Ting Ladringan, Frances Espejo Ting Apostol, Nowella Espejo Ting Dy
● Children of Amelia Espejo Valles Dominador: Dominic Espejo Valles, and Daniel Espejo Valles
Marcelina met Teofisto Pena, and they were married for over 60 years until his passing in 2021. They lived in Milpitas, CA, for over 30 years with their dogs, Princess and Snowy, before moving to Modesto, CA, in 2003. Auntie and Uncle lived with Lynda, her niece, and her husband, Eric, and her sister, Lydia, until their newly built home was ready for them to move in. They lived a happy life together until her husband's passing in 2021. She then moved to Eternity Care Home in 2022, where she remained until her call to glory.
Auntie Celing was known for her pleasant and caring nature. She was a devoted sister, always calling to check on her younger sister, Lydia. Her family deeply loved her, and her niece Lylia, along with her family, provided dedicated care and support during her illness.
She did not suffer in death and was surrounded by family, passing away in peace. She will always be loved, remembered, and kept in the hearts of her family.
