Marcelous Agers Jr.
June 23, 1954 – December 19, 2012
Marcelous Agers Jr, was born June 23, 1954 at San Francisco General Hospital. The baby child of Marcelous and Geraldine Agers. Being the baby of the family, he was given the nickname “Man”, a name that stuck with him throughout his life. Marcelous started school at Peres Elementary in Richmond, California. He was indoctrinated in the church as a child and was part of his family singing group, the “Agers Trio”. His family moved to Martinez California in 1965 where he attended Las Juntas Elementary School, Martinez Junior High School and finally, graduated from Alhambra High School. Marcelous loved sports and participated in Pop Warner and High School Football, helping his Alhambra Bulldogs to a championship. In 1973 Marcelous met and married Cathie Baca, they were blessed with a daughter, Leticia that same year. Looking for a fresh start, Marcelous made Portland, Oregon his home a few years later. He soon found a job at Tektronix Corporation and in 1977 he met the love of his life Brenda Glass. They soon established a home together and cared for and loved each other until her death in 2007. Marcelous developed a strong bond with his Oregon Family, especially his cousins Adolph and Earline Spears and Floyd Spears. In September of 1999, Marcelous daughter Leticia joined him in Beaverton, OR. There he was able to develop a wonderful relationship with daughter and grandson. Marcelous, doted on his grandson, DeAndre and was a major influence in his life. He went to all his basketball and baseball games, he later taught him how to drive. Marcelous was also “UNC(le)” to his niece Malikia and acted as a father-figure in her life. He was also very close to his nephew Eugene Kelley and Theresa Hudgins. Marcelous “Moe” Agers, loved to stay active, he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and well as fisherman and camper. Marcelous stayed in close touch with his sisters, especially his older sister Helen, they would speak by phone practically every night. In 2009, Marcelous relocated to Mountain House, California where he lived with his sister, Peggy. He would often go with her to church on Sunday, or if he didn’t go he would always ask what the sermon was about and what scripture did the pastor speak from. Marcelous is preceeded in death by his parents, Marcelous & Geraldine Agers, wife Brenda Glass, sister Helen Agers and sister Maggie Barker. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Leticia Agers-Barton (Daryl), grandchildren, DeAndre Williams, Alicia Berry and LaTrae Barton, great-granddaughter, Malika Williams. Sisters, Naomi Armstead, Nancy Hart, Peggy Agers-Govorko (Pete); brothers Bobby Williams (Katherine) and Johnie Jones (Mabel) and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
