Born on July 9, 1950, in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, Mindanao, Mariano was the sixth of eleven children of Arcadio and Noemi Salazar. He grew up in a bustling, love-filled household that deeply instilled strong family values.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from San Jose Recoletos University in Cebu City and began a successful career working for multinational companies in the Philippines. Later, he moved to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities, where he continued to thrive professionally. Known as “the operations guy,” Mario built a reputation for being a talented problem-solver and trouble-shooter—someone who stepped in when challenges seemed insurmountable.
A Life Full of Joy
Mario lived fully, balancing hard work with enjoyment. He loved bowling, playing poker and craps, and watching football—cheering passionately for his favorite teams. He was also known for his sense of humor, especially his well-timed dad jokes that brought smiles to every family gathering.

Above all, Mario cherished his family—his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. He dedicated his life to nurturing and supporting them. His legacy lives on through them, reflecting the strength, love, and wisdom he imparted. Mario was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. His intelligence, quiet strength, and resourcefulness made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
