Nick you were gone too soon. They say you can tell a lot about a person by the way their friends talk about them. Although we did not really know Nick personally, he obviously was a very dear friend to our son and other members of our family. There are no words to express the sorrow and sympathy we wish to convey to Nick's family and friends but it is quite obvious that he was much loved and made a great impact on many people's lives. We are so incredibly sad about the loss of our friend. Nicky was a wonderful and special person. We were lucky enough to know him since the day he was born and grow up with him.  We have so many memories of all of the times we spent together– playing outside in front of our houses, birthday parties, holidays, trips to Lake Tahoe, going out for pizza nights . . . Our childhood memories are full of times our families spent together.  
We will never understand why Nicky was taken so early . . . but we know that one day we will see him again. We will miss you Nicky. We will always remember you.

Nick always gave you a smile with a twinkle in his eye.  As his former teacher, I know he enjoyed his time in Washington, DC with us during his 8th grade trip, his former teachers remember him as a very nice and gentle young man.  As the mother of one of his good skateboarding friends, I grieve on a much deeper level, he was a truly great friend to my son and always had a hug for me.  I will never forget Nick, his smile, and his skateboarding stunts.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.  Here are his hugs right back to you Husain family. May you find some peace as I send these thoughts to all of you.

Nick- there are so many things to say about you.  You were a great friend, a great skateboarder, and a great person.  I have so many memories of times we spent together, and most of them are from the times we went skateboarding.  You were always fearless on your skateboard, ready to try anything, and you always pushed us to be the same.  You'll always be remembered for that.  I'll miss you, Nick, and I'll always remember you.

I know I can speak for everyone when I say that losing Nick is one of the biggest heartaches many of us have endured.  It pains me to think of his goofy smile or his contagious laugh, because I can still remember them so vividly. Nick always had a way of making everyone he was around feel like they were special to him; he always was involved in what was going on in his friends' lives.  Nick truly cared about others, and his empathetic personality was something everyone loved about him.  I wish the whole family peace and send them my condolences.  A great friend was lost, but he lives through all of us now.  We miss and love you Nick!

So many of Shawn's friends remember Nick as a rowdy kid with endless energy and a smile that could swallow you whole. And so many of us were deeply impressed by the adult he grew up to be - a thoughtful young man with an insatiable appetite for adventure and understanding. As we try to make sense of the plans the Universe has for us, please know that you are surrounded by the love and strength of a vast community whose lives were all impacted by Nick. It's hard to think of all the good times with Nick, there were so many. No matter what it was he always seemed to make it better. He treated everyone with love and respect and he always made me feel like family,I will never forget him for that.

I remember being so excited whenever I knew Nick was going to be visiting Bangladesh. I always had so much fun when he was around, one of my favorite memories period is wrestling with him in the back of my mom's station wagon. When I moved to the US Nick was my first friend, we practiced lightsabers together. He was such a free spirit and so adventurous... a really amazing person. It's hard for me to put down in words what I'm feeling, I'm shocked and sad that you are gone. I'm going to miss you Nick.

I don't know how to say it, but you went too quickly for me to say goodbye properly. 
I said we will see you soon and you agreed. 

I remember you as a little boy, just seven months old and
I was baby-sitting you when your mama and papa went to a party in Dhaka.
While I was changing you after the feed, you looked surprised...

As a little boy I always noticed how you were full of life and energy. You always had a cheeky smile and a mischievous sparkle in your eyes.
You always were a dare-devil, skateboarding and jumping up higher than your friends.
You also acquired many fractures in your arms and legs as medals for your achievements.

I did not see you much during your teenage years....you were mostly out, and less in.
Recently we saw you more often : playing pool, getting ready to go to school or out cycling.
Surprisingly, we even managed to play some chess games!

In the plane you and I sat in the back and you were trying to point out your house down below.
You also took some photos of Alicia in the front, sitting next to your pa.

Because of the rush to catch our flight back to London I could not even thank you properly for helping with our luggage and and say goodbye; We agreed we will meet again soon but you have gone

I just want to say thanks for being an awesome little cousin. Looking back, you play such a big part of many of my happiest childhood memories. I still clearly remember in Dhaka on Nanie’s veranda – you must have been 18 months old or so – Cassi, Shawn and I would fight over who got to push you around in your walker! 
Not forgetting the many summer holidays I used to come over as a kid and stay with you guys in Milpitas and Fremont.  Despite the relatively large age-gap of exactly 5 years to the day, you were always (surprisingly!) very good company and kept me happily entertained, particularly when Shawn and Cassi were away.  I remember us having a combined deep fondness for “La-la” (aka ‘The Little Mermaid’).  And then when you were much older your trying to teach me how to skate (I failed miserably!) and also keeping me company as I jogged/walked around the block. 
Nickelodeon – I’ll never forget your infectious laugh, cheeky smile, and bright eyes.

I never got to meet Nick, but my nephew was his friend. I believe any loss of life diminishes us all. My heart goes out to the Husain family, and to everyone who knew and loved Nick.

I only knew Nick through my grandson, Ben Lefkort. Now that I have looked through the photos I feel I know him and his beautiful family a little better.
