

Nonilo Florino Castro was born on August 20, 1937 in Dumalag Capiz , Phillippines. He was the son of Adolfo Castro and Gertrudes Florino Castro. As the fourth child, he was dearly loved by the family. He has five siblings, Miguel Castro, Dario Castro, Emerita Fagtanac, Encarnacion ( Nelly) Espos and Mariano Castro.
He spent his happy childhood days in Dumalag. He studied his grammar school at Dumalag Parochial School. He studied high school in Dumalag Capiz. He attended college at Saint Augustine in IloIlo.
On December, 26th 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Josefa Funa Castro. They were blessed with two children, Lovella Marie and Joseph Anthony. He is very blessed with one grandchild named Joleigh Skye.
Cano owned and managed his family sugarcane and rice farm, while his wife was working at elementary school as a teacher. He also took care of his kids. On June 2, 1984 the family immigrated to US. They lived in Milpitas, CA and later moved to San Jose. They lived in Bay Area for 32 years and he later moved to Lincoln, CA.
He worked at Selectron for 1 year. Then he worked at Residence Inn by Marriott as a mechanical engineer for 23 years in Sunnyvale CA. He retired at the age of 72 years old after his wife passed away.
He was a strong quiet type of man but, he was able to demonstrate both great strength and humility at the same time when he did speak. To those he cared about Cano was very loving, caring, kind, honest, extremely giving, and very loyal. He showed his family his strong will and what it meant to be hard-working. He was a simple person that didn't need much in his life as long as his family was taken care of. He had perseverance and compassion for others.
He had many hobbies and showed great enthusiasm and energy for them. He enjoyed sharing his interests with others.He enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, baseball. He was passionate about cars and loved fixing them in the garage where he would spend daily. Cano was also an avid fan of music of all different types, often he could be found listening in his car or his room enjoying the music he loved.
Our beloved and loving, caring Dad, Manong, Uncle Cano, Nilo and papa was taken from us by his heavenly father on January 15, 2019. He made a lasting impact to so many lives and he will never be forgotten, we will miss you greatly and you will be in our hearts forever. We love you very much Dad.
