In the early part of the 20th Century, our roots started their lives on Natoma Blvd in San Francisco, California. Grandpa Leonard Ramos Tejada and Grandma Alvina Fernando Mauricio Tejada joined in matrimony at Redwood City. As years passed, they bore 3 children, namely: Hortensia Eleanor, eldest ( August 3, 1934); Clifford Richard, 2nd child (July 9,1936) and Donald Francis, 3rd child (June 3, 1938). All 3 were delivered at St. Francis Hospital. Being distanced away from the Philippines for a long while, they finally decided to visit our native land. They boarded the ship, the only transport at that point in time. Grandma Alvina was on her way with her 4th child. After a few months in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, the 4th child was delivered and named Paul after Grandma Alvina's older brother Paul ( US Army, Captain of a warship sent to the Pacific).
World War II broke off while All of the 4 children were on Quarantine due to an epidemic, reasons that hindered them to return to the US. Grandpa Leonard joined the USArmy Fleet to the Pacific while the Family strove to survive the cruelty of World War II with a handful of relatives.
Growing up, the 4th child Paul was very sweet and helpful. At one point, Grandma Alvina needed some help. Holding the improvised lamp fueled with kerosene and a lighted wick, Little Paul went down the stairs holding on the Kerosene Lamp over his head. Accidentally, the lamp tilted causing the kerosene to drip over his head, catching fire onto the right side of his face which left an indellible scar , evident of his goodness at a tender age. After World War II, Grandpa Leonard joined his Family and chose to live in the Philippines. They bought a house in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, close to Grandpa Leonard's sister. Few years later, they established a Sawmill business at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains in Isabela. As years went by, the Family grew big in number and was based at Alicia, Isabela where they got a modest farm. 4th child Paul , being nice and helpful, was Grandpa Leonard's help tending over a huge Piggery Farm. The Duruk Jersey Boar was the biggest and most healthy within the Province of Isabela. Driven by outside force, 4th child left the Family for a period of two years in the city. There, he experienced a lot of challenges. Coming back , a more matured guy went on to finish his studies. He was so renowned and was posted as the President of the Student Body Government of Dalton Academy in his final year. He eventually assumed as the Little Mayor of the Town of Alicia for a few months. He was able to clean-up the town from dirty elements of society. Cabarets and gambling dens were quashed. He was tough but readily backed-up by politicians and law enforcement agencies. He tried to further his studies as an scholar at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) now TUP, Technological University of the Philippines but after a year, he opted to start a Family instead. 4th child Paul married Jovencia Jose Agustin and raised up 2 daughters , Nellie and Olivia ,and 2 sons: Robert ( RIP 2001) and Alejandro. He and the Family was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Alicia where he got baptized by the late Rev. Salvador Avarientos. Sadly, Mama Jovencia passed away in 1983 due to ill-health.
4th child Paul migrated to the US in 1985 and tagged along with him at a latter dates his children. 4th child Paul was able to complete his time in the work force and beyond. He worked in Alaska for a lucrative venture which prompted him to get another life partner. His kindness radiated and eventually brought everyone in the Family of his 2nd partner Lilia Barela Agustin, his sister-in-law , to the US. They lived happily and actively joined Filipino Groups in social events . He is the incumbent President of Alicians USA.
