Referendo Garganta Rimando, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at home in Milpitas, California with his wife and children by his side after a long battle with cancer. Referendo was born November 14, 1930 in Fort McKinley (now Fort Bonifacio/Taguig City), Philippines to Juan and Eleuteria Rimando.
Referendo grew up in Pasig City, Philippines the fourth of six children: Trinidad and Severino, and home with God Federico, Corazon, and Lydia. After graduating from Pasig Catholic College with a degree in Elementary School Education, Referendo was a teacher at Rosario Elementary School where he met and married Dolora Rimando on December 24, 1972 in Pasig City, Philippines. After immigrating to the United States with his family in 1978, Referendo worked at the California Highway Patrol in San Jose, CA as a maintenance worker for 26 years.
Referendo is survived by wife Dolora Rimando of Milpitas, CA, son Rumel Rimando Sr. of Milpitas, CA; daughter Roselina Rimando of Milpitas, CA; daughter Lorace Rimando of San Jose, CA; and grandson Rumel Rimando Jr. of San Jose, CA.
