

Robert William Gilmore went to school in Oxnard, California and graduated from Oxnard High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He is a Vietnam Veteran. After the Navy, he went into cross country truck driving, owning his own trucking company. He started by hauling furniture and eventually hauling chemical waste and explosives.He retired in 1994 from his business. Bob resided in Castro Valley with his wife Ethel.
He was very active in all Veteran’s organizations including the Veterans Administration. He volunteered many days and hours helping the Veterans. He was a member of the Fremont Elks Lodge, the Castro Valley Moose Lodge, Castro Valley VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of the Honor Guard in both of these organizations. He was a dedicated family man. Next to his family came his cars. Bob enjoyed both working on them and driving them. His greatest joy was his role as “Soccer Dad” to his two oldest great grandchildren. To prove it he even bought a minivan!
He was a jokester and could always find conversation with anyone. No one was ever a stranger. He loved his animals from his bird long ago to his dogs. His old dog Bella was always on his lap in his favorite chair. “Papa” was an everyday fixture in his 2 oldest great granddaughters lives, from picking them up from school to taking them to the park, he could never tell them no
Bob is survived by his wife Ethel, his daughter, Marlene, daughter Debbie, son in law Jake, and daughter Yevette, He is preceded in death by his son in law, Steve,(husband of Marlene) and he is preceded in death by his daughter, Bobette.
Bob is survived by his grandchildren, Amanda, her husband Dan, Cheri, her fiancé, Matt, Cassandra, her husband Kevin, Annette, her husband Taylon, Donal, his wife Katie, Joseph, Ricky, Brandi and Anthony Bob is survived by his great grandchildren, Katie, Brandy, Cecilia, Wyatt, James, Gavin, Alexis.
