OBITUARY

Rodolfo Adan

December 1, 1949June 3, 2011

Rodolfo Diaz Adan was born on December 1, 1949 in Bituag, Urbiztondo, Pangasinan, Philippines. Born to Antonio and Mercedes Adan, he was the second to the youngest of 16 siblings.

In December of 1969, at the age of 19, he came to America with the help of his eldest brother Emilio and sister in law Gertrudes Adan.

In 1974 he went back to the Philippines. It was then that he married Teresita. He returned to America six weeks later. Rodolfo was a hard worker, working various jobs to provide for his wife who would eventually arrive in America.

In June of 1976, their first of four daughters was born, Grace. The following year, Jacqueline was born. This is when their annual Disneyland/Seaworld trips began. In 1980 the third daughter was born, Kathleen. Followed by the last in 1985, Rowena.

Rodolfo enjoyed cooking and dancing. He loved to go to discos with his wife and afterwards enjoy a late night meal. Singing karaoke was another favorite past time of his, he even marked his favorites in his song book on his home karaoke system. A few of his favorites were "Born Free" and "Release Me".

He was a dedicated Papa to his two grandchildren, Christian and Layla. Weekends were spent with the family cheering on his grandson at basketball games.

He was a loving husband, dad, and papa. He will be truly missed and will forever be in our hearts.

There are so many things to say about my dad. He has given me so much. I thank him for his sense of humor and teaching me how to love and care for people, especially family. I will miss him more than anyone can ever imagine.

I love you dad and will miss you so much!

My dad taught us the value of hard work early. He wanted us to be self sufficient so that we would be able to take care of ourselves when we grew up. I remember having to mow the lawn, trim the hedges and pull weeds with Grace every weekend. I thought to myself, "We shouldn't be doing this-we are girls!" But now that I am an adult, I see why he let us work so hard. I have fond memories of our annual Disneyland and camping trips. He loved to go on road trips. He was a great grandfather to Christian and Layla. His laughter and beaming smile will forever be in my heart. He will be missed. We love you daddy!

My dad was a hard worker,  he taught me how to work for what I wanted and to never depend on anyone.  I know love, respect, and to help others because of him.  He left me with many great memories and taught me morals that will carry on and live through me.

There are no words to explain how much he will be missed!

I know that my dad is watching down on each and everyone of us. There are so many great memories that I will keep close in my heart.  I will always cherish the times we went to the Philippines, seeing how happy he was to be back home.  I will miss his silly jokes that only my sisters and I understood. I will miss seeing his smile and hearing him laugh as he watched TFC.  There are not enough words in the world to describe how much he will be missed. He taught us the true meaning of family and love.

May God bless the Adan family and give them the strength to be there for each other as they mourn the loss of their 'daddy' and a husband and best friend to their mom. AMEN Love you all..:)

One memory I have of your dad is when I spent the night at your house for the very first time. I think we were 14. And he showed us this bottle of tequila with a worm in it. If that wasn't gross enough, he said that people swallowed it when they drank it! Ugh-nasty! lol I had such a good time that night AND in the morning when your mom made pancakes! I love you guys and will keep you in my prayers as you go through this difficult milestone in your life..Remember, he will ALWAYS be with each and every one of you..BRITTLE :)
