Solita Gutierrez was born in Liliw, Laguna in the Philippines on 01/22/36 to Felix and Soledad Arjona. She was the youngest of 6 children and had 3 brothers and 2 other sisters. She obtained a Master’s degree of Science in Education from the University of Indiana in 1960. She returned to the Philippines afterwards, and taught classes at the University of the East in Manila. It was there that she met her future husband, Danny Gutierrez, a fellow college professor, who taught Political Science, in 1963. They were married on July 15, 1964 and had one daughter, born in 1965. In 1966 they made a permanent move to the United States and initially lived in Mtn View, California, with relatives. By 1970, they bought their first home in Milpitas since Solita obtained employment with the Milpitas Unified School district. She taught Kindergarten in Milpitas for 21 years and retired in 1991. She was an extremely devout Catholic who enjoyed socializing, gardening, and traveling, to name a few things. She was the ultimate wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend who always thought of others before herself. She also had a never ending smile.
She is survived by her husband Danny, daughter Marli, son in law, Alex, two granddaughters, Jazmine and Lillie, as well as numerous relatives in the Philippines and in California.
