

Sunny Bagcal Foronda was born on September 5, 1954 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Raymundo and Macaria Foronda. He passed away on August 14, 2021. He is survived by his wife Nely, his four children (Christopher [Tiffany], Melissa [Matt], Raymond and Shannon), five grandchildren (Ryan, Kaleigh, Andrew, Sophia, and Dylan), six brothers and sisters (Rufina, Marina, Beatrix, Celestino, Fidel and Nora), and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Antonio, Mariano) and one sister (Soledad).
Shortly after emigrating with his brother Celestino to the U.S. in August 1975 to join his other siblings in the Bay Area, he eventually settled in San Jose, CA and was married in 1984. Sunny was proud to have contributed to the growth of the Silicon Valley high tech storage industry. He started his career as a Machine Operator at Stanford Applied Engineering in 1975. He then joined Dysan in 1982 as a Lead Supervisor. Next, he worked at Quantum for 16 years, where he was promoted to Lead Operator. Lastly, he worked for a fishing company in Alaska in 2006.
Sunny had many hobbies and interests. He had a lifelong passion for muscle cars. His first car was a Camaro and he owned several others, including a Chevelle and Trans-Am. He enjoyed cooking, music and loved singing karaoke at family parties. His favorite song to sing was My Way by Frank Sinatra. He also loved basketball, the martial arts, and fishing. In addition, he was an expert handyman and was happy to assist others with their home repair or improvement projects.
In addition to his hobbies, he cherished spending time with his siblings, his children and especially his grandchildren.
He was a very social person best known for his sense of humor. He was outgoing, spontaneous, and lived for the moment, which created countless moments of joy and laughter for all of us. He enjoyed seeing everyone having a good time as much as he did while entertaining us. God blessed Sunny with a joyful spirit and a warm heart, and his faith in God assisted him in overcoming every challenge he faced, especially during his last few years. He will be missed but never forgotten as he created memories that will last forever.
