It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Trinidad Bersabe. She died the victim of a tragic auto accident in the early morning of Sunday July, 26, 2015.
Trinidad was born in Camarines Sur, Philippines in 1941. She lost both her parents at a young age, losing her father in World War II. Taken in by relatives, Trinidad grew up in Iriga City. She attended college in Manila and studied architecture.
As a young girl, Trinidad’s biggest dream was to live in America. With the help of her late husband, Valentin Bersabe, a U.S. Navy officer, she achieved that dream. Trinidad joined her husband in the United States in the 1960s. Over the years, they were blessed with six children and throughout his military career, the family lived in California, Hawaii, the Philippines and Washington DC.
Another dream for Trinidad was owning her own home. So while Valentin worked at the Pentagon, she found a factory job and after years of saving, they realized their dream of homeownership and bought their first house in the Washington DC area.
Upon her husband’s military retirement, they returned to California, stayed and raised their family. Real estate became their joint second career, which they embarked upon together. After many wonderful years together as husband and wife, Trinidad became a widow with the passing of her beloved husband Val in 2004. Tragedy struck again when their third child Mark Bersabe, unexpectedly died in 2012. Yet Trinidad exemplified strength and perseverance and carried on as best as she could, continuing to work with a true entrepreneurial spirit, surrounded by her supportive family.
In her spare time, Trinidad had developed a passion for driving and enjoyed going on road trips up and down the West Coast. She loved to travel, sing karaoke and spend time with friends and family. She especially loved being with her grandchildren whenever she got the chance. Trinidad’s legacy of hope and determination live on in her five children, Wade, Ray, Annalyn, Lori and Gabriel and her four grandchildren Charlize Jane, Vendela, Gabe Jr. and Divina.
Funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday August 21, 2015 at 10:30am. In honor of Trinidad’s great love for her grandkids, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her grandchildren’s fund.
