Veronica Gajardo, age 83, of San Jose, California left this world to be with the Lord on Friday, September 16, 2016 after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved wife of Len Gajardo. Veronica was born in the Philippines on May 5, 1933.
Veronica lost her mother when she was five years old and went through many struggles growing up. To finance her education, she worked hard harvesting onions, sewing, curling other women’s hair while going to school. She managed to obtain education and earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. For 20 years, she taught in Elementary Schools in Caranglan, and General Natividad, Nueva Ecija.
Veronica migrated to the U.S. in 1978. She has lived in Milpitas, Sacramento, and San Jose.
Veronica accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was a teenager. Since then, her life has always been loving and serving the Lord. She was a true servant of God, teaching bible lessons, always reminding her children and grandchildren to always put God first in all you do. Her favorite bible first is Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Through her teachings, she has brought many to Jesus while living in the Philippines, Sacramento and lately in San Jose. Even with her illness, she continued to teach in the Women’s Bible Study at Berryessa Valley Church (BVC). Some of her greatest work for the Lord include helping build churches in General Natividad and in her hometown in Marikit by teaching and giving financial support. Many of her relatives live in Marikit. It was her desire for her relatives to be saved. In 1989, United Church of Christ of the Philippines approached her to help them build a church on a lot they just bought in Marikit. She agreed to support them financially with the main goal of ministering to her relatives and help bring them to Jesus. Her prayers were answered because many of her nieces and nephews, along with their children started going to the church. Two times a year, BVC helped her collect food, clothing, toys, school supplies, and bible study materials that she would pack in about 2-3 cargo boxes to send to this church. She requested for the family to continue supporting the church even when she is gone.
Veronica will always be remembered for her generosity. Always willing to help others in need. She would use her money helping others rather than using them on luxurious things.
She is preceded in death by her son Leover. Her parents Vicente and Damiana, sibilings Ceferina, Ceferino, Abundio, Felipe, Candido, and Gaspar.
She is survived by her husband Len, her children Verle and Ramir, Maria Fe, Vina and Francis Sr., grandchildren Francis Jr., Camille, Elijah, JoJo, Lauryn, and Andre. Sister Rufina, and brother Rolando.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Berryessa Valley Church in her memory.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life.
