These are the words of Carola's father: We could talk talk talk until we were red in our faces. When we talked about music she really opened up because she loved music. You never knew how much pain she was in. We called her Potz. She was our Potz.
She always saw the good in people and couldn’t wait to see us again. Then I heard that she was really sick. It was almost like a star fell from the sky and now our star is gone. When I got the message that she does not live in this world any more there was a big silence because a world without Potz is not possible. She would say Oh that’s not sad you’re going to be okay. She was always happy and she shared that happiness with other people. We miss her so much. We have a long and strong relationship. She always made sure to remember Christ and how he was always positive. Our Potz is in Heaven now, making sure we will always have good memories of her. The sky lights up as long as I remember Potz. She was ready to go. So god may help her along and she will remind us to be positive and to be good to one another. This was the idea she conveyed to us.
As hard as this life was I still remember the happy times. She loved to be happy and laugh and make jokes. "Daddy, just remember I love you and you love me and that’s all that matters." She was strong enough with the passion she had as she went through this ordeal. This was our Potz. Now she lives in our memory for ever and ever. When I feel very sad then I will remember Potz. She would never be sad.
God bless my beloved daughter. If I can’t fall asleep I think of Potz. We will be blessed forever to have known and loved Potz. Our Potz. God bless her children and her husband and all the people that are related to her. When she was not home everybody was sad. Where is Potz? and then there she was. She was hiding behind a tree. She had a cheeky smile and was always nice and very decent and very happy. I will remember you forever, Potz. God be with you and rest In peace.

I remember the love you had for your own children. You loved your preschool children and they loved you. Every time we walked done the school hallways and they saw you they would smiled and go over and hug you and share something they remembered. You showed so much kindness to my exchange students too. May you family have wonderful memories of you to keep all their lives. God grant you peace and them comfort.

Thank you for being there for VBS at Clear Lake Lutheran Church. First, you helped me with curly hair like yours on Alana, then my 2 year old twin grand-sons a year too soon due to an emergency at their home totally unplanned or prepared, and many many many memories. And who pulled the plug on the water table and caused a small flood?? And you served as a great roll model for Alexander and Grant when they were preschool helpers. You totally had control of all those preschoolers 😉👍🏻💕 🙏🏻 You will be missed but always with us at VBS. Until we meet again . . .

Our deepest sympathies and prayers to the Thomas family during this difficult time.
Kevin, Scott and I have many fond memories of the early days hanging out with you and Carola. Great times boating, traveling to the islands and parties in the park. A great couple who had a zest for living life to the fullest. Eternal peace to a great lady!

I worked with Carola at CAA. She had a heart of gold and she always had a smile on her face. We shared an office on days I worked in Hillsdale and she often spoke of her husband and children with such pride and love. She always brightened the room and made my day better just by seeing her smile. She had a love for life. She will be greatly missed.

My prayers are with her family.

My Heart goes out to Kevin, Galiena, Mason, and Myles. I wish my words could soften your hurt. Carola was a beautiful lady. My memories go back to your wedding reception, Kevin. It was eloquent, with a string Quartet, white tents, scrumptious food (I especially remember the salmon!), and a lovely couple. I won’t be able to come to celebrate Carola’s life on June 11, but know my prayers will be with you.

Carola was a great friend with whom I enjoyed working with very much. We had fun whether driving to meetings in Jackson and tossing ideas back-n-forth for teaching themes and what activities supported those themes or for getting in trouble whispering instead of listening at those meetings. Carola treated everyone with respect, gave 100% of herself, and loved each and every child we ever had in our classroom. I treasured my friendship with her. I know I am not alone in saying she will be greatly missed.

Where does a person begin?
Always had a smile on her face, and something nice to say to everyone.
She taught all my children, I have 5, with oldest turning 27 this year. She will be forever missed. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones. Fly high.
