So sorry to hear of Maw Hicks' passing. I admired her so much. I met her in the summer of 1976 at the New Life Apostolic Church. She was so quick to befriend our family. She invited me to go strawberry picking that summer and what a time we had. I admired her energy and her loyalty to her family, church and friends. She will be greatly missed. She was always so supportive of my father and mother. Dad was her pastor for many years.

I was saddened to learn of Claudia's death. We were classmates at Harlan High School in 1947. We had on and off contacts during the past 10 years. She was a cheerful, positive attitude friend. May God's love make your grief bearable.

My memories would fill a book- let me just say here she made the best green beans in the world! I loved her very much and will miss her, but she's with mom now (her sister Thelma) and many others she loved, having a very special reunion.

How I so remember Maw!! Skipping school and getting in trouble -- after dropping her kids off at school, she picked me up walking down Kinloch -- I know some will remember the street, she brought me home and taught me a Bible Study about being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!! I will never forget the time I spent with her and learning so much!! She was so genuine and gave all of the time!! I remember being at the Hicks' home and hearing all of the kids making noise in the basement! I was astonished!! We couldn't make noise like that at my house! In many ways my life was shaped because of her influence!! She was so loved by so many!! I wish I had some way to have said goodbye!! But I know I will see her again!! She has earned her reward!! She invited people to church most everywhere!! As Elisha asked for a double portion of the prophet Elijay -- I want to follow in her footsteps!! She was so kind!! I love you Maw!! See you in the sweet bye and bye!! Until then!!!
