

Born on June 24, 1935, in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, Dennis was one of three children born to the late Novella and John Reed. Denny was baptized into the Christian faith and was later confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Defiance, Ohio, on March 21, 1948.
Denny was active in his faith throughout his life and married his wife, Lynn, on October 5, 1973, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. While at Holy Cross, he served as president of the congregation, chairman of the school board, and teacher of the Bethel Bible Series. Upon moving to Fremont, Indiana, he became a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was active in missions through Cross Border Partners in Fort Wayne.
Denny served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1957 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, and the Good Conduct Metal.
Denny graduated from Indiana Technical Institute with a degree in chemical engineering and worked for Rea
Magnet Wire. In 1985, he founded DR Lubricants in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was active in all areas of his business, and considered his customers as friends. Denny was active in the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was also involved in the American Legion and Lion’s Club and served on several neighborhood boards.
He also enjoyed singing with the Summit City Barbershop Chorus.
Denny was a boating enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends on Snow Lake and at his second home in Key West. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and thrived on spending time with his grandchildren.
Denny is survived by his wife Lynn; four children, Diane (Joe) Timbrook, Tammy (Frank) Alcala, Danner Johnson, and Kelly Johnson; eight grandchildren, Jodi (Scott) Bland, Amanda (Craig) Begley, Kelly (Jason) Vandemark, Austin Alcala, Jordon Johnson, Haley Johnson, Brady Johnson, and Bennett Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Gabe, Caleb, Sydney, Katherine, and DeLaney. Also surviving are siblings, Carmen Knipp, of Holgate, Ohio, and Dean (Dorothy) Reed of Bradenton, Florida. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Harley.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church, 355 E. S.R. 120, Fremont, Indiana, with visitation one hour before. Pastor Wayne Berkesch and Pastor Chad Potts will be officiating.
Visitation is also from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Beams Funeral Home, 200 W. Toledo St., Fremont, Indiana.
