Douglas Kermit Rouhier, 73, of Angola, Indiana, passed away on June 12, 2026,remembered by all who loved him for his bear paw handshakes, a laugh that filled any room, and the reassuring certainty that if something was broken, Doug could fix it.
Born in 1953, Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit V. Rouhier and Freda "Fritzie" Rouhier. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Karen Rouhier. Doug always said he wanted to be a girl dad, and he was, the kind who read Dr. Seuss upside down and backwards and passed down a sense of humor as irreverent and unforgettable as he was. He is survived by his daughters Kelly (Jerry) Etnier, Nicole Goodpaster and Misty (Jeremy) Spreuer. Doug was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Novalea (Joseph) Langeman, Jett Boots, Gage Spreuer, and River Spreuer; and Jacob Bird and Kennedy Bird. He is also survived by his niece, Molly (Brent Williams) Pikarsky, whom he affectionately called "Man!"
A talented and accomplished carpenter, Doug took pride in his craft. He spent roughly 15 years in Colorado and graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1971, a chapter of his life he carried with him always, full of stories he never tired of telling and adventures worth sharing. He had a deep love for fast old cars, a gift for making people laugh, and an even deeper love for his family.
Doug lived a full life, on his own terms and in his own way, and that is exactly how those who knew him would want to remember him.
A Celebration of life will be held on Monday June 22, 2026 from 4 pm until 7 pm at Sutton's Deli Banquet Hall, 140 North Public Square, Angola, Indiana.
